mariah

mariah is a fine artist who lives in traverse city, michigan with her husband and two children. she has been painting commissioned and personal work for over 25 years, and has been creating, drawing, doodling, & daydreaming since she could pick up a crayon.

mariah is inspired by humanity, nature, and the little moments throughout the day that can surprise you. she is drawn to the organic, honest and raw emotions of animate and inanimate objects. she observes, ponders, and gravitates toward someone or something’s essence. she looks for their truest qualities, whether it’s a physical detail or a more abstract idea that it may embody. she strives to capture the essence of any subject she is painting. that creative process can be very inspiring, humbling, and exciting.

art is an extension of one’s self, and is ever changing and evolving. it can be new and different, and also familiar. mariah is drawn to texture, color, light, and shapes… and loves how there becomes an interaction between them, whether the process is intentional or unanticipated.

mariah is continually learning, painting, and creating in her studio. she welcomes people to stop by, visit her work space, and view her art. originals and prints are available for sale. mariah also creates commission pieces for clients; painting portraits, landscapes, and abstract work.
